Leiaster speciosus von Martens, 1866

This Velvety Sea Star is usually dark maroon in colour, with a smooth, almost slimy feel. This species of the Western Pacific Ocean can be typically found under rocks on the seaward reef.

Leiaster speciosus is a host of the ectoparasitic Copepod Leicomes monozotus.
