Izucaris masudai Okuno, 1999

The shrimp Izucaris masudai has a flat profile. The basic body color is white or golden with interrupted black lines. The leopard sea anemone shrimp lives on the small anemone Nemanthus nitidus, which can vary regionally in the basic color of white or gold. Izucaris masudai is perfectly adapted to its "host anemone" and is barely recognizable.

Izucaris masudai is found in southern Japan and Indonesia.

The scientific description of the species was based on two specimens, one male and one female, collected on the Izu Peninsula, Honshu, Japan.

Lowe-profile white or gold body covered with noumerus broken black lines.

Commensal anemone shrimp host Leopard Anemone Nemantus nitidus.

The genus name Izucaris was derived from the location this species were first discovered - Izu Peninsular, Honshu, Japan.
