Philine auriformisis native to New Zealand introduced to the northeast Pacific from Coos Bay, Coos County, Oregon to San Diego, California; 5–300 m

This slug is a predator and feed on bivalves and polychaetes.They live on muddy bottoms in the intertidal zone of bays and estuaries.
