Species of Genus Pleurobranchaea are carnivorous hunters. They feeds a wide variety of prey items.

Pleurobranchaea californica is a voracious predator feeding upon various invertebrates and fish. It is also a cannibal.

Host of Anthessius obtusispina Ho, 1983 Feedingtype: ectoparasitic, Stage: adult (copepod associated with Pleurobranchaea californica) .

Similar to Boreoberthella californica and Boreoberthella chacei,
