Hemiramphus robustus is a species of garfish that is usually found in shoals in turbid coastal waters.
It replaces the garfish Hemiramphus far (Forsskål, 1775) around Australia, which is more common in oceanic waters.
Several sources state that adult garfish are said to eat seagrasses and diatoms, but we were unable to find scientific evidence for this.
The feeding list of juvenile fishes, however, is confirmed in the field "Food".
