Costaria costata (C.Agardh) De A.Saunders, 1895

The five-ribbed kelp is an large brown kelp with a single light to chocolate brown blade. Can grow up to 2m in lenght and is 35cm wide. The branched holdfast is 10cm long.

Similar to the three-ribbed kelp Cymathere triplicata.

Sea urchins are grazers on this kelp.
