Info

Suberites concinnus Lambe, 1895

Suberites is a genus of marine sponges in the family Suberitidae.

Description Suberites concinnus: Irregularly spherical, typically 11 cm long, 7 cm wide and 5 cm thick. There are one to many oscula, which may be slightly raised. The consistency of the sponge is soft and porous. The surface may be white to orange in variable shades, covering a brownish-orange to white interior.

Suberites concinnus is restricted to rocks swept along by the current. It is a calcareous water sponge.

The Arctic Cookie Star, Ceramaster arcticus, feeds on Suberites concinnus.
