Info

Sebastes chlorostictus is a compact spiny head with a deeply incised dorsal fin, the fin membranes reach about halfway up the spines and not to the tips of the spines as in most rockfish species.
The body coloration ranges from orange to pink to yellowish-gold with white dorsal fin membranes.

§lat has 3 to 5 distinct pinkish-white spots on the back surrounded by numerous small green spots on the head and back extending to the lateral line.
The green-spotted rock perch has strong head spines and alternating yellow and pink stripes on the gill cover, which radiate from the eye.

Not an animal for a home aquarium, but is shown in large public aquariums in the USA.

Use: Sebastes chlorostictus is an excellent food fish that is commercially hunted!

Similar species:
The green-spotted rock bass is most likely to be confused with Sebastes rosenblatti (green spots and wavy lines on the back) and the pink rock bass, Sebastes eos (similar in shape, but without green spots).
