Caryophyllia (Caryophyllia) arnoldi is a solitary, sessile, and azooxanthellate stony coral that colonizes hard substrates exclusively in cold to very cold and deep seas.

The largest known specimen (Alb-4463) had a calyx measuring 16.0 x 14.5 mm, a height of 17.0 mm, and a stem diameter of 8.8 mm.
