Hinea lineata (da Costa, 1778)
Hinea lineata is a species belonging to the family Planaxidae, colloquially known as flat spindle snails. Members of the family have thick-walled, cone-shaped shells with spiral ribs or are smooth. The siphon channel is clearly pronounced. Flat spindle snails have a thin, horny operculum to close the shell opening. It is mainly found on rocks in the intertidal zone.
The genus Hinea currently contains only 10 scientifically described species.
