Sand-Eidechsenfisch Synodus dermatogenys ca. 20 cm frisst einen Pantherbutt Bothus pantherinus mit ca. 7cm.
Der Eidechsenfisch ist für Aquarien mit Kleinfischen völlig ungeeignet. Das Bild sagt ja alles aus. Bei Haltung von Großfischen ein äußerst interessanter Pflegling. Allerdings sollte eine Sandschicht von mindestens 10 cm vorhanden sein und das Becken sollte eher Fläche als Höhe haben. Bei meinen Beobachtungen im natürlichen Lebensraum sind diese Fische sehr ortstreu.
