Aphelodoris brunnea Bergh, 1907

The variable dorid has a a pale body with variable brown patches, and eight gills arranged around the anus.

Aphelodoris brunnea is endemic to South Africa. This nudibranch can be found to 15 m depth in rocky reefs. Aphelodoris brunnea feeds exclusively on sponges.

When disturbed, Aphelodoris brunnea is able to swim by flexing its body up and down.
