Adults of Chrysoblephus anglicus live in nearshore reefs, while juveniles are found in shallow subtidal and rocky reefs.
Chrysoblephus anglicus is not a migratory species and is therefore native only to the east coast of Africa and the western Indian Ocean.

The species can be observed solitary or in small groups.

Chrysoblephus anglicus is not suitable for home aquariums, the sea bream is fished commercially.
