Stichaeus punctatus (Fabricius, 1780)

The animal lives benthically on sandy and rocky grounds and feeds on marine crustaceans and worms, which it catches at depths of up to 100 meters.

The long dorsal fin of many spinyback species is supported by hard rays; spinybacks are eelpout-like animals.
