The sea anemone Bunodosoma grande has at least different 3 color morphotypes and is quite common at its occurrence sites. Bunodosoma californicum and Bunodosoma grande are the only two of 14 known Bunodosoma species found in the eastern Pacific.
Bunodosoma grande has a stately foot disc that can reach 3.7cm in diameter, the body column grows to 3.8cm long and even thicker at 4.1cm in >diameter.The body column is densely covered with small vesicles.
A fully expanded oral disc and its tentacles extend over 5.1cm in diameter, the oral disc itself reaches 3.7cm in diameter Its up to 164 tentacles are arranged hexamerically in six cycles, the tentacles are sticky, smooth and all of similar length.
In living specimens, the pedal disc is pinkish, the body column olive green, the distal vesicles yellowish or beige; the proximal vesicles pinkish, olive green, or purple.
Oral disc is olive green or brown. tentacles brown or reddish with beige spots on oral side.
